7 After Mastectomy Tips

Are you having a mastectomy and would like some ideas to help with your recovery?

We know this is a stressful time for you and your family, and we have compiled a list of some things that may help it go easier for you.

Some things that will help with your recovery:

1. Extra pillows – these will help to prop you up to make you more comfortable.
2. Half Moon shaped pillow – this will help with sleeping while sitting up at first.
3. Pre-made meals – with not being able to lift anything for a while and especially if your significant other can’t cook these will come in handy.
4. Mastectomy Camisoles or Loose fitting tops – these will hide drains, some people have suggested men’s tank top undershirts. You can put these on by stepping into them and you can also pin your drains to them.
5. Baggy sweat pants – these are comfortable and easy to slip on.
6. Books, Movies, Magazines, etc… – you will be pretty sedentary for a little while so these will help to pass the time.
7. Laptop table/TV Tray or close by bed stand – this will help keep all of your essentials (i.e. water, chapstick, phone, tablet, etc…) within arm’s reach to make it easier for you.
